Troubleshooting
A chapter is locked
Chapters open in order: finish the one before it. Parts Two and Three also need the full book, which you can open by tapping any of their chapters.
I bought the full book, but it's locked on my other device
Tap a locked chapter in Part Two, then Restore Purchases on the card. Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple Account you bought it with.
A chapter's polaroid shows a drawing, not a photo
The scrapbook takes its photo when you finish a chapter. Chapters finished before that show their drawing until you play them again.
I want to read it again from the beginning
Open the settings (the gear on the desk) and choose “Start the book over…”. It erases your progress and the scrapbook photos. The full book stays unlocked.
There's no sound
Check the Music and Sounds switches in the settings, and that your iPhone isn't on silent.
Frequently asked questions
What is Willow?
A pop-up storybook game for iPhone and iPad. The pages of a book stand up on your screen like paper pop-ups, and every chapter is a little game you play with a touch, a swipe or a drawn gesture.
Is Willow a real dog?
Yes. Willow is a fluffy white Maltese who lives in Zurich. Every chapter tells a moment from her life, from the smallest puppy of eight to the most social dog in the park.
Who is it for?
Anyone who loves a small dog, from children reading along with a grown-up to grown-ups on the couch. You can't really lose: finishing a chapter always earns at least one bone.
What does it cost?
Part One, nine chapters, is free to read and play. One in-app purchase opens Parts Two and Three, nineteen more chapters. Before it, a grown-up gate asks for three digits spelled out in words.
What are the bones for?
Each chapter gives one to three bones, depending on how well it went. They fill Willow's bravery, from Scaredy Pup to Social Butterfly. Three bones earn a gold paw stamp in the scrapbook.
What's in the scrapbook?
A polaroid for every chapter you finish, with a handwritten caption. The photo is taken the moment you win, so it shows your own game. Play it again just as well or better, and the new photo takes its place.
Is there more after the last page?
Once every chapter is read, the settings unlock the classic game: the fifteen original levels in Game Boy Color–style pixel art, played in portrait.
Does it work on a foldable iPhone?
Yes, the book follows the hinge. Folded shut, you see the cover. Unfold it to open the book, and half-fold it to lay the big pop-ups down.
Does Willow collect any data?
No. There's no account and no tracking. Your progress and scrapbook photos stay on your device, and purchases go through Apple.
